In early 2009, three dozen locals met in Point Arena and enthusiastically agreed that a cooperative grocery would provide a much-needed resource in the community. Five months and hundreds of volunteer hours later, the Arena Market and Café opened on May 19, 2009.

We live these values by providing opportunities and incentives for people to socialize and obtain their food locally. Through collaboration with other businesses, participation in events, and membership in the Point Arena Merchants Association, we are co-creating a sustainable economy in our coastal region.
We delight in welcoming visitors to this beautiful place we call home, and it’s a pleasure to hear, “I didn’t think places like this existed any more!”
